MusicOregon recognizes the importance of fostering a healthy music ecosystem where entrepreneurs thrive. However, marginalized communities remain underrepresented in nonperformance music enterprises.
The Music Business Incubator (MBI) is tailored for early or transitional career aspiring entrepreneurs seeking to excel in non-musical roles within the music industry (i.e., Artist Management, Recording Studios, Music Venue Ownership). This program is designed for BIPOC, Queer, and woman-identifying individuals aiming to grow into stable and lucrative professional positions in the music industry.
During its pilot year, MBI will select 5 aspiring entrepreneurs from historically marginalized communities to receive comprehensive support, including:
- Guidance from industry mentors in Oregon and beyond
- Access to legal, accounting, and project management consultations
- Development of free templated data management solutions
The program is directed by Personal & Professional development coach / Celebrity DJ & Producer David "O.G.ONE" Jackson of Leadertainment LLC. Participating educators, speakers and mentors will be drawn from all parts of the music ecology and from local and National experts. The experience will prioritize identity alignment with mentors and participating entrepreneurs. The program understands that culturally sensitive modeling is key to growth.
Selected participants will work in music business categories such as music management, publicity, booking agency, record label, music venue, and brick-and-mortar recording studio.
We invite you to apply to the Music Business Incubator program today and be a part of this incredible opportunity to grow and thrive in the music industry. Together, let's create a more inclusive and diverse music business ecosystem in Oregon.
